World Heart Day
World Heart Day September 29, 2018
World Heart Day is observed on 29th September 2018 for raising awareness about cardiovascular disease, including heart disease and stroke. It is a global campaign during which individuals, families, communities take up charge for their healthy heart.
Prof. Sarita Negi presented a seminar on “WORLD HEART DAY” highlighting risk factors, practices to keep heart healthy and fitness practices etc. The slides covered -Threats to a heart that are high cholesterol level, obesity, hypertension, diabetes, smoking, physical inactivity, family history of heart ailments and high blood pressure. She suggested the healthy heart food too which includes Broccoli, sweet potato, oranges, tomatoes, kidney beans, almond, walnuts etc. She asked the pupil teachers about their life style and also advised few healthy lifestyle tips to them such as cutting down salt intake, giving up smoking, eating fish and diet with more fiber. It was a good interactive session with the students.
