About the Center
The Center for Human Rights and Humanitarian Law (CHRHL) at ICFAI Law School, The ICFAI University Dehradun, is a specialized center dedicated to the advancement of knowledge, research, and practice in the field of human rights. CHRHL since its inception has been committed to leveraging the power of law to protect and promote human rights, aiming to foster a fair and just society. The center strives to advance legal education, research, and policy development in human rights and humanitarian law, with a focus on integrating human values into societal development. It will organize varied academic, technical, medical, cultural and social events and spread the real importance of protection of Human Rights in the society. The center will also look forward to collaborations with national and international organizations and researchers in the area of Human Rights and Humanitarian Law. The importance of this center can be identified by the need of protection of human rights to ensure the development of the society. Therefore, the center is committed to encourage research and analyses the dynamic field of Human Rights. The center also provides a platform for intellectual and academic discussions about the multifaceted dimensions of Human Rights.
The vision of the Center for Human Rights and Humanitarian Law (CHRHL) at ICFAI Law School, The ICFAI University Dehradun, is to create a society based on respect for human Rights of each and every individual hailing from any section of the society. This center will aspire to become a leading center in the field of human rights and humanitarian law, known for its innovative research, impactful advocacy, and transformative educational programs. CHRHL envisions a world where human rights are universally upheld, and where legal frameworks effectively address and prevent violations, contributing to a more equitable and just global society.
The Center for Human Rights and Humanitarian Law would attempt to analyze and address the prevalent issues relating to Human Rights and Humanitarian Law and its stakeholders through various activities. The center will conduct National/International Conferences and Seminars to bring together the Academia for deliberating and discussing the contemporary issues related to Human Rights and Humanitarian Law.
The Center will also conduct awareness creating programs like Workshops, Nukkad Nataks, awareness camps, debate competitions, poster-making competitions, Quiz competitions, Guest lectures and other activities so that this center can be a functional tool for eliminating the various Human Rights discriminations faced by people in society.

" Centre for Research on Criminal Law (CRCL) is a specialized Centre, established by ICFAI Law School, The ICFAI University Dehradun. It shall be working towards creating awareness among the public by making laws reachable and understandable to the laymen. New challenges are conferred by the advancement of technology. Consequently, the expansion raises various concerns about theoretical and practical aspects of law. The raising questions fascinate and engage the scholars and academicians in the field of law and many other disciplines, policymakers, social groups and individuals. In the effort to make ICFAI Law School, IUD a strong kernel of knowledge of criminal Justice system, and to encourage the discussion as well as study on Criminal Law and its application on the society, the Center will work with both, the faculty and students of the University as its members with an aim to create a sensitized community within campus as well as in the society. It will organize varied academic, technical, medical, cultural and social events and spread the real importance of administration of criminal justice in the society through University students. The center will also look forward to collaborations with national and international organizations and researchers in the area of Criminal studies. The ambit of crime and criminal has expanded since its commencement. Therefore, the centre is committed to encourage research and analyse the dynamic field of law. Pioneering ADR Education: A Chronicle of the Centre of Excellence in Alternative Dispute Resolution Law and Its Milestone Events

Introduction:
The Centre of Excellence in Alternative Dispute Resolution Law (CEADRL) at our law college represents a ground-breaking initiative that seamlessly integrates academic distinction with practical engagement, with the goal of immersing both students and legal professionals in the transformative methodologies of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR). The Centre emerges as a luminary of knowledge and empowerment, serving as an essential conduit for the propagation of ADR principles, and fostering competencies in mediation and conflict resolution that extend beyond the bounds of traditional litigation.
Through an array of interactive workshops, trailblazing research, and the provision of mediation services, the Centre has profoundly augmented the educational trajectory of our students and has been instrumental in facilitating the harmonious resolution of disputes within the broader community. This steadfast commitment was showcased during the “1st ICFAI Virtual National Mediation Competition 2024”, a gathering of legal intellects within a virtual forum, honoured by the presence of the esteemed Hon’ble Thriuvengadam B.C and Mrs. Prerna Kolhi, Senior Founding Partner and Mediator, Zeus Law Associates as chief guests.
The adjudicating panel, composed of venerated legal experts such as Shruti Khanijao, Partner at Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Co Advocates & Solicitors; Param Bhamra, Founding Partner of Mediate Guru; Prashasti Priya, Associate at Khaitan and Co and Advocate at the High Court of Bombay; Saksham Madan, Managing Associate at Luthra and Luthra Law offices India; Puja Anand, Advocate/Mediator with over 29 years of experience in the Supreme Court of India and various High Courts; Kartikey Bhatt, Principal Associate at Fox & Mandal Solicitors and Advocates; and Sahil Narang, Partner at Khaitan & Co, infused the competition with depth and acumen, propelling our mission to cultivate skilled mediators capable of resolving conflicts with precision and ethical integrity. The initiatives of our Centre mirror the unwavering commitment of our law college to legal excellence and community service, paving the way for a new era of dispute resolution.
Account of the Events Conducted:
- The workshop on negotiation skills was organized by CEADRL on the 18th of September, 2023, focusing on the intricate aspects of negotiation. It featured an expert in the field, Dr. Madhuri Irene, Associate Professor (Law), who shared valuable insights and techniques to enhance negotiation skills among the participants. The session was well-received, providing attendees with practical knowledge and strategies to effectively navigate negotiations in various legal contexts. This workshop is a testament to the college’s dedication to offering hands-on learning experiences that complement academic pursuits and prepare students for real-world legal challenges.
- The workshop on “Negotiation & Settlement Agreement Drafting” was a notable event that took place virtually on the 24th of September, 2023. The session, organized by the Centre for Excellence in Alternative Dispute Resolution Law, featured Mr. Aditya Aryan, Dispute Prevention & Resolution Professional/Mediator/International Academy of Mediators, as the speaker. It focused on enhancing the participants’ skills in drafting settlement agreements—a crucial aspect of legal negotiations. The workshop was a valuable opportunity for attendees to gain practical experience and knowledge in ADR processes, furthering the Centre’s mission to educate and empower future legal professionals.
- The “1st Intra Negotiation - Agreement Drafting Competition” provided a competitive platform for budding legal minds to showcase their negotiation and agreement drafting prowess. This competition was a testament to the institutions’ commitment to nurturing practical legal skills among students, fostering a deeper understanding of the intricacies involved in legal negotiations and documentation. It was an excellent opportunity for participants to engage in a real-world legal exercise, enhancing their capabilities and preparing them for future challenges in the legal profession.
- The virtual workshop on mediation, featuring Dr. Ashu Dhiman, Assistant Professor (Law) Vivekananda School of Law & Legal Studies, Mediator, Chief Advisor at Mediate Guru, as the guest speaker, was held on the 8th of February at 7 PM. This event highlighted the importance of mediation in the legal field, offering participants an in-depth look at this specialized topic. The workshop is part of the school’s ongoing efforts to provide students with practical skills and knowledge, preparing them for their future roles in the legal profession.
- The “1st ICFAI Virtual National Mediation Competition 2024” was organized by CEADRL on the 9th -10th of February, 2024, it was a ground-breaking event that brought together legal enthusiasts and students from across the nation in a virtual environment. This competition highlighted the evolving nature of legal practice and education, emphasizing the importance of mediation as a dispute resolution tool. The event showcased the collaborative efforts of various partners and the commitment of ICFAI to provide a platform for aspiring mediators to develop and demonstrate their skills in a competitive and educational setting.

About the Cell
The ICFAI University Women and Gender Cell has been constituted with the objective of creating an inclusive and gender equal campus. The Cell works towards sensitization on gender issues, ensuring policy implementation, and working towards empowering students and employees. The Cell conducts activities and events for creating awareness on issues relating to women and their welfare and empowerment. The Cell will support and motivate women to achieve their full potential, to disseminate legal awareness on gender and women issues and help in gender sensitization.
